Some of Sam's great weather and light painting photos

Qasim's write up on Lauren Greenfield

I am writing about the photographer (Lauren Greenfield) She was born in 1966 in United States. She has 3 books .
1-Girl culture 2002.
2-fast forward 1997.
3-thin 2006.
And she has 3 movies .
1-The Queen of versailles.
2-Kids money.
3-Beauty culture.
The photo looks like someone in a prison calling her family and she is crying and she having a really bad time.

Sam's great research project on Eve Arnold

Born, April 21, 1912
From Russian-Jewish immigrant parents
Middle of nine children
Her interest in photography began in 1946 while working in a New York City photo-finishing plant

Died 2012 at the age of 99

I like these pictures because I feel they really represent the time period she is capturing, and the use of light in a black and white photo to give it extra gloom. I also feel the pictures have big message in both of them, seeing how both of them are single women, leaning over with alcohol by their side, again, it really gives the sense of the time.

Halley's great portrait assignment write up on Lauren Greenfield

Lauren Greenfield was born in Boston in 1966. She graduated from
Harvard in 1987 with a B.A. in Visual and Environmental Studies. Her
Senior Thesis photography project on the French Aristocracy was called
"Survivors of the French Revolution". Soon after finishing university,
she started as an intern for National Geographic. The magazine later
gave her a grant to provide financial support for her first monograph,
"Fast Forward: Growing Up In The Shadow Of Hollywood." Five years
later, she released "Girl Culture", which has been reprinted five
times.
Greenfied's personal style is highly emotional, but in a very posed
and pretty way. Her photos reflect reality but depict it through a
lens that is uniquely hers - her photos do not show the acts of
emotion, but, rather, the aftermath and facade put together to cover
the ordeal.

This photo features emphasis on the money by the use of colour,
texture, and contrast between all of these. It looks as if she's
counting the money, or otherwise focusing hard on it. This could tell
a lot about the woman's character, and that, I think, is what
Greenfield tries to portray through these photos.

This image shows a large group of women, all wearing bikinis, standing
in the same pose. There is a variety amongst the women in terms of
colour, value, shape, form, and movement, but they all look eerily
similar which creates rhythm and unity. I think that these omen were
meant to look very much a part of a group, even though they are in
reality probably competing against each other. Each woman looks like
she is simultaneously trying to stand out and bled in to the crowd.
Greenfield highlights this through her objective lens, and shows the
objective reality of situations like these without applying judgement.

Qasim's great analysis of Wildlife photography

McDonald graduated from Hennepin Technical College with an a degree in photography. In 2003, he earned his Master's degree in Photography and. He was born July 1966 .He is American.  He is from Delano, Minnesota. He has  three children.
I like this photo because it’s has earth tones and natural colours (green, brown, white and black) . The image is very sharp, and not blurry even though it’s in the middle of a lot of action. He took the moment when the cheetahs were fighting . The light is clear and you can see all the details. It has a lot of texture in the foreground and background

Fukuda Toshij. Born in 1948 .He is a Japanese photographer. He has been taking pictures of wildlife in Russia and Japan. Sam's great presentation

Andrew Schoeman seems to love to play with light and texture, the pictures above that are all pictures of safari wild life. In the last two picture there is a lot more detail and texture with the light focusing on the subject. While the first picture has a lot more colour.
Andrew Schoeman, while in the middle of his job as a safari guide, found a big box of film by the side of the road that happened to hold the same film that fit into his camera.
He started taking pictures in 2002
In 2010 he won his first reward in London, England
All of Jasper Doest’s pictures play a lot with texture and colour, not so much with light. The pictures before all contained vibrant foregrounds and middle grounds focusing on the subject at hand rather than the background of the picture. Jasper made good use of natural shapes and in the picture on the third slide, showed us the symmetry in nature.

Halley's Great Presentation on her Rom Photography

This photo was taken by Ettienne Francey, born in 1997 in Switzerland. When he was about nine years old, he beganfilming nature, especially birds. In 2007, at ten, he began to favour nature photography. He and his twin brother Sebastian have
started a photography magazine called Chnature. He takes his photos with a Nikon D7000, 300mm F4 and 150mm F2.8 Sigma.
Late one July evening, near Cousset, Switzerland, Francey noticed 'a little ball' stuck to a stalk of wheat. He managed to capturethe moment before the mouse scurried away in fear of the predator.

I find the photo powerful because of the colour schemes -it's fairly bright, clearly shot in daylight, and it seems to be a verypeaceful, serene, calm, photo. The composition abides to the rule of threes - the mouse is in the third quadrant. The light andmuted, beige colours around the mouse really bring it to our attention. It looks like a moment we were not meant to see - a tinymouse blending into a stalk of wheat. Yet Francey has captured this seemingly unimportant moment with such intricacy andserenity that the viewer can't help but be intrigued. The photo is entitled "Harvest gold".

This photo was taken by Hannes Lochner of South Africa. He was born in Cape town, and from an early age visited almostevery game reserve in Southern Africa with his parents. He developed then a passion for wildlife and after completing hiscompulsory one year service in the armed forces, he spent the next few years studying graphic design at the University of

Stellenbosch. In 2007 he became a full time wildlife photographer.

By repeatedly clicking the shutter of his camera, he enticed a lion cub towards his camera. "All the settings were onmanual," he said of the photographic process, "so I could only hope I had judged the angle and lighting correctly." In this case, itis very clear that he had. The cat's eyes really stand out, and the animal's monotonous colour is a contrast to the blues andpinks of the setting sky. It is easy to detect the alertness and curiosity of the young lion, and the details of his fur creates a veryinteresting texture. The foreground, sandy Saharan plains, is also an interesting sight but doesn't draw any attention away fromthe subject. This photo follows the rule of threes, and the angle of the animal's body draws the viewer's attention to hisinterestingly textured eyes and face. The photo is entitled "Curiousity and the cat".
